About CYC
Why did Saint Antonius Coptic Orthodox Church, Hayward, build a Coptic Youth Center (CYC) for Coptic and area Youth?
Saint Antonius Coptic Orthodox Church is located at 2500 Hansen Road, Hayward, California 94541. The church maintains an official website at www.antonius.org. It is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (Federal Tax ID #94-2342165) serving primarily Egyptian Christians throughout the region.
Over the years, our congregation has grown significantly from approximately 350 families to more than 1500 families, largely due to the arrival of individuals and families.
This growth is expected to continue. As new members settle in their adopted country, the Church plays a vital role in helping them adjust to life in the United States, supporting their integration into American society while preserving their faith and heritage.
Beyond serving its congregation, Saint Antonius Church is deeply committed to the broader Hayward community. The Church actively supports local outreach initiatives, including assistance to the homeless, visits and care for nursing home residents, and comprehensive youth programs.
The Coptic Orthodox Church traces its origins to 42 AD, when St. Mark the Apostle founded the mother church in Egypt. It is one of the oldest Christian traditions in the world and continues to preserve its ancient teachings, liturgy, and spiritual heritage.
Coptic Youth Center (CYC)
The Youth Facility is a 16,400-square-foot, two-story center designed to serve the growing needs of our young people.
Upper Floor: A standard indoor basketball gymnasium adaptable for multiple sports, with seating for approximately 200 spectators, along with necessary support facilities.
Lower Floor: An elevator-accessible level that will include an industrial-sized kitchen, a multipurpose hall, several classrooms, a fitness room, and dedicated technology training cubicles.
The Youth Center operates under a separate governing board and maintains its own legal identity as CYC LLC, although it is owned by the Church. It also maintains its own website at copticyouthcenter.org and copticyouthcenter.us
It is estimated that more than 2000 youth will regularly benefit from this facility, which is designed to foster spiritual growth, educational development, physical wellness, and community engagement.
